Hurlers face Fermanagh this Saturday

July 04, 2008
Leitrim hurlers will need to overcome the challenge of Fermanagh this Saturday in Páirc Seán Mac Diarmada if they are to have any chance of making this year's Nicky Rackard Cup quarter-finals. Last weekend saw a determined Leitrim outfit fall at the hands of South Down (Non Ards) at Pairc Elser, Newry after establishing a comfortable lead at half-time The visitors took in a seven-point advantage with them at the interval but the Ulster side launched an assault on the Leitrim goal in the second-half with Eoin McGuinness' goal just past the hour mark proving the decisive score. The loss to South Down means that the hosts will need to get a win against the Erne men at Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday if they are to qualify for the last eight of this year's competition.
