Leinster IHC: Cats oust Wexford to book final spot

June 29, 2008
Kilkenny 1-19 Wexford 0-12 Kilkenny came away with a resounding ten-point victory from Wexford Park as they saw off All-Ireland Champions Wexford last Saturday evening in one half of the Leinster IFC semi-finals. The game's only goal from Cathal Dunne in the first-half helped Kilkenny take a foot-hold in the game and bring in a 1-8 to 0-7 lead into the dressing room at the interval. Jim Berry's sound free-taking had kept the Model County in contention up to then, and it was the centre-forward who opened the scoring for the second-half with a brace of successful placed-balls before Kieran Joyce had cancelled those out for the visitors with two of his own. From there Kilkenny eclipsed the champions' chances with scores from Peter Cleere and Cathal Dunne to make way for a comfortable ten point victory in the finish and set up a provincial final clash with Dublin.
