McGuire blow for Sligo

June 18, 2008
Sligo captain Noel McGuire hasn't been included in manager Tommy Jordan's starting XV for Sunday's Connacht SFC semi-final against Mayo after failing to recover from a dislocated elbow. The Easkey clubman suffered the injury in a club game in April which forced him to miss the first round win over London, but he was expected to return for this weekend's difficult assignment in Castlebar. However, the defending Connacht champions have named an unchanged team with Padraig Naughton continuing at full back in McGuire's absence. There are a couple of positional changes which see Johnny Davey switching from wing back to wing forward after hitting two points the last day, and Eoin McHugh moving from full forward to the half back line. Sligo (SF v Mayo): P Greene; C Harrison, P Naughton, R Donovan; P McGovern, M McNamara, E McHugh; E O'Hara, K Quinn; B Curran, B Egan, J Davey; G Gaughan, M Breheny, D Kelly.
