Ulster MHC: Saffrons crush Down to take title

Antrim 3-18 Down 0-5 Antrim's Minor hurlers cruised to a 22-point victory over Down to set-up one half of a successful Ulster Championship double for the Saffron County at Casement Park on Sunday. A goal from Gerald Laverty after five minutes made way for Antrim to take in a 1-8 to 0-3 lead at the interval with Peter Dallat landing three of the Saffrons eight points in the opening half from play. The young Mourne men replied to Laverty's goal with points from Aaron O'Prey, Daniel Toner and Shane Conlon but it couldn't stop them trailing by eight points come the half-time whistle. Goals from Michael Dallat and substitute Michael Armstrong all but sealed the result in the second-half all but sealed the result as Down only managed two more points from frees Conlon and substitute Paul Sheehan.
