Complacency not an issue for Cats
June 13, 2008
Despite being overwhelming favourites to reach another Leinster final, Kilkenny manager Brian Cody is adamant that people can write Sunday's opponents Offaly off at their peril, but stressed the Cats will be taking nothing for granted.
Bookmakers has the defending All-Ireland champions at 1/20 to defeat Offaly and although they ran out winners by 14 in last year's corresponding fixture, Cody stressed that it was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested.
"Offaly will be very serious opposition for us," said Cody. "Everybody said we had it easy last year, but I'm certain that for 50 minutes of the game, there was a huge, huge battle.
"From where I was standing and I'm sure it was the same for the players, we had to fight tooth and nail to get ourselves in a position where we could win the match."
Kilkenny have delayed naming the selection of their team as they have a number of injury concerns as Noel Hickey, Richie Power, Aidan Fogarty, PJ Delaney and Henry Shefflin all remain doubtful.
