GPA awards for O'Callaghan and Johnston

June 10, 2008
Dublin hurler David 'Dotsy' O'Callaghan and Cavan footballer Seanie Johnston have been honoured with the Opel/Gaelic Player of the Month awards for May. Their selection is a fitting tribute to the victories of their respective counties, Dublin and Cavan in their first round Championship games. David O'Callaghan contributed a magnificent 1-6 in Dublin's emphatic victory over Westmeath in their opening Leinster Hurling Championship game of the season. Since his return to the Dublin senior hurling panel, the St. Mark's clubman has been an integral part of the Dublin set up. Cavan sharpshooter Seánie Johnston continued his fine National League form by leading the way for Cavan in their first round Ulster Championship victory over Antrim. Kicking a total of eights points, Johnston was in inspirational form ensuring the Breffni men's smooth passage through to a meeting with Armagh in the next round of the Ulster Championship.
