Cats sweat on Fogarty

June 04, 2008
Aidan Fogarty has emerged as an injury doubt for Kilkenny's opening Leinster SHC defence against Offaly on Sunday week. The corner forward, who was man of the match in the 2006 All-Ireland final, is facing a race against time to be fit for the clash after damaging his a/c shoulder joint while playing for his club Emeralds on Saturday. Defender James Ryall and midfielder Derek Lyng have already been ruled out through injury, and could also miss the Leinster final should the All-Ireland champions progress that far. Ryall, Lyng, Fogarty and Eoin McGrath all sat out Monday's training session which was notable for the involvement of under 21 players John Mulhall and Kieran Joyce and Pat Hartley, who won a Fitzgibbon Cup medal with Waterford IT earlier this year. However, it is not clear yet if the trio will be included in the squad to face Offaly or if they were just brought in to make up the numbers in training.
