Carroll goal decisive for Limerick

April 24, 2008
Mark Carroll's second half goal proved to be the crucial score as Limerick overcame Waterford to qualify for the ESB Munster MFC semi-final at Bruff on Wednesday night. Limerick 1-13 Waterford 0-11 After dominating the opening half, Limerick needed the cushion of Carroll's goal to see them through. The winners came flying out of the traps and a succession of early points, including two each from midfielder Ciaran Ryan and corner forward Pauric McEnery put them in control. They went on to take a 0-8 to 0-3 advantage into the interval, with Waterford's points being scores by Kenny Murphy and Sean Leahy. With Murphy and Leahy again to the fore, the visitors closed the gap in the second half, but couldn't get back on level terms and Carroll's goal put paid to their hopes.
