Tipp advance with ease

April 17, 2008
Tipperary progressed to the semi-final of the ESB Munster MFC following a comfortable victory over Waterford at a wind-swept Dungarvan on Wednesday evening. Tipperary..3-9 Waterford....0-8 The writing was on the wall for the home side at half-time when they trailed by 0-5 to 2-2, despite having played with the aid of a strong wind. Tipp were gifted a goal after just five minutes when Waterford goalkeeper Dwane Kirwan allowed Gavin Ryan's speculative effort to spill into the net. After Waterford missed two chances of their own, Conor Sweeney netted Tipperary's second in the 28th minute to put them firmly in the driving seat. Despite enjoying a decent share of the possession, Waterford struggled to make it count on the scoreboard, meaning Tipp's lead was never really threatened in the second half. The clinching goal arrived six minutes from the end when Sweeney converted a penalty which had been awarded for a foul on Darren Lowry.
