Kildare march on
March 29, 2008
A superb second half display helped propel Kildare to a 0-14 to 1-4 win over Carlow in their Cadbury's Leinster U21 FC semi-final clash.
The Lilywhites stole the show on the restart as they scored 12 points to turn around a two point deficit at the interval.
In what was a disappointing game, albeit played in difficult conditions, the sides incredibly shared just two points after 27 minutes of play.
Carlow finished the first half strongly though and to go in at half-time, 0-4 to 0-2 to the good with James Kinsella accounting for all of Carlow's scores at that juncture.
However Glenn Ryan's charges improved greatly in the second half and four points in five minutes, two from man of the match Gavin Smullen, broke Carlow's resistance.
Carlow refused to throw in the towel but their goal by John Amond had consolation stamped all over it.
