Stephen Coen shot seven points in a man-of-the-match display as Sligo overcame Galway by 0-15 to 0-12 in their Cadbury's Connacht U21 FC quarter-final clash at Tubbercurry. Coen hit two points in a first half which saw the wind-aided hosts lead by 0-10 to 0-6 in a frenetic encounter. Galway played much better on the restart and the Tribesmen succeeded in reducing the leaders' advantage to two points early in the second half. Coen was to notch five points in the second moiety though to keep the Yeats County in front while the hosts' keeper Jason Farrell helped keep his side's lead in tact by denying Jonathan Ryan a certain goal in the dying minutes.
