Rebel games off

February 15, 2008
As widely expected, Cork's national football and hurling league matches scheduled for this weekend have been postponed. The GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee has obliged after Cork County Board requested that the Rebels' weekend games be deferred. The CCCC ruled that neither the national football league Division Two match between Cork and Dublin (fixed for Saturday night at Páirc Uí Rinn) nor the National Hurling League Division One clash with Waterford (scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Páirc Úi Chaoimh) should proceed. No announcement has been made on when the games will be re-fixed but it appears that the Leesiders will not be removed from either competition for the time being.
