Waterford postpone football semi-final

October 25, 2007
The Waterford SFC semi-final between champions Nire and Ballinacourty, which was due to take place on Sunday, has been postponed until Saturday week, November 3. Ballinacourty sought the deferral on the basis that their players have been involved in championship action for six consecutive weeks, while Nire had asked that the game be put back to the Bank Holiday Monday because of Thomas O'Gorman's involvement with Munster in Saturday's Inter-provincial final at Croke Park. The game has been refixed for Fraher Field on Saturday week with the stipulation that the final against the winners of Sunday's other semi-final involving Stradbally and Ardmore goes ahead as scheduled on November 11. For Stradbally's hurling All-Star Michael 'Brick' Walsh, it promises to be a hectic 24 hours as he will also be in action for the Munster hurlers in their Inter-provincial final against Connacht on Saturday evening.
