McGeeney in Carlow picture?

Less than 24 hours after announcing his retirement from intercounty football, former Armagh ace Kieran McGeeney is being touted as a possible new boss of Carlow's senior football team. Carlow board officials are believed to have been keeping a watching brief on McGeeney since the player's public criticism of the Orchard County GAA chiefs handling of the race to find a successor to Joe Kernan. The Barrowsiders are understood to have secured the backing of a top local businessman who has agreed to offset some of the expenses of availing of the services of an outsider. McGeeney, a Na Fianna clubman is Dublin-based and wouldn't find the trip to Carlow too daunting a prospect, sources suggest.
