Derry edge home

August 12, 2007
Derry staged a brilliant second half recovery to snatch a dramatic 1-8 to 1-7 win over Cork in a hotly contested ESB All-Ireland MFC quarter-final clash. Derry didn't open their account until ten minutes from the interval and having conceded a goal to Gavin McGeehan, trailed by 0-2 to 1-4 at that juncture. However man of the match Declan Mullen fired over two points early in the second half to give Derry a boost. Cork seemed to be in the driving seat though until Derry captain James Kielt fired the ball to the back of the net in the 55th minute which tied the scores at 1-7 apiece. The drama wasn't finished there though and two minutes from time, Declan Mullen notched what turned out to be the winning point.
