Rebels into decider

August 04, 2007
Cork qualified for the ESB All-Ireland MHC final with a 2-10 to 0-13 win over Leinster champions Dublin at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise. Dublin looked to be on track for the decider when notching five points on the trot to move into a four point lead but the Rebels turned the game on its head in the first four minutes of the first half though with a Ryan Clifford point and a goal in quick succession. Michael O'Mahony later followed up with another goal to leave the Munster lads 2-5 to 0-8 in front at the interval. Dublin battled hard to get on terms after the break and actually held Cork scoreless for the final 20 minutes of the match. Points from William Brogan and sub Kevin O'Loughlin helped cut Cork's lead to just three points with 12 minutes left to play. However that was as good as it got for Dublin as Cork circled the wagons to hold out for a deserved win.
