Kingston's goal sends Laois through

August 04, 2007
All-Ireland MFC title holders Roscommon were sent spiralling out of the competition after Laois secured a 1-13 to 1-11 win in a cracking ESB quarter-final clash at Thurles. A 46th minute goal by Donal Kingston proved all-important in a game which ebbed and flowed throughout. The sides were level on five occasions during the first half. However Laois upped the ante in the second half to open up a 1-12 to 0-9 gap with seven minutes left to play. A late penalty conversion from sub Leon O'Connor cut the gap to two points but Roscommon ran out of time as a fine point from John O'Loughlin in injury time helped seal Roscommon's fate.
