Rebels book Munster final spot

May 10, 2007
Substitute Con Dunne's fortuitous 38th minute goal helped Cork to a 1-9 to 0-5 victory over Tipperary in this Munster MFC semi-final at Kilmallock on Wednesday night, May 9. Dunne had only been on the pitch a matter of minutes when he fired home from close range after the Tipperary defence had failed to adequately clear their lines. The goal gave Cork a two-point lead they never relinquished. Favoured by the wind in the first half, Tipp led by 0-4 to 0-2 at the break but they were left to rue eight wides. Cork quickly set about reducing the deficit after the restart and they never looked back after Dunne's strike gave them a 1-3 to 0-4 lead. Another substitute Owen Buckley weighed in with two points as the Rebels set up a final meeting against either Kerry or Limerick. Scorers - Cork: B O'Driscoll 0-3, P Honohan and O Buckley 0-2 each, C Dunne 1-0, A Walsh and C Sheehan 0-1 each. Tipperary: C Sweeney and C Carey 0-2 each, C Sheehan 0-1.
