Dempsey remains proud of his charges

May 07, 2007
Laois Under 21 football boss Sean Dempsey had nothing but pride for his charges despite seeing Cork triumphed by 2-10 to 0-15 in the All-Ireland Under 21 FC final at Thurles. The midlanders brought more fans to the match, had the man of the match in Michael John Tierney yet still went home empty handed although the word tragedy wasn't in Dempsey's lexicon after the match. "I don't know if you can use a word like that, but God almighty, they gave it everything they had out there and we're proud as punch of them," said the Laois boss. "To play like that and lose was devastating. Your heart would go out to them because they were just magnificent. "It was their finest display and you simply couldn't ask any more of them."
