Tipp destroy Banner to reach under 21 final

March 25, 2007
Tipperary qualified for the Munster under 21 football final following an emphatic victory over a disappointing Clare at Kilmallock on Saturday, March 24. Tipperary….5-8 Clare………0-7 Following their shock first round win over Kerry, Clare were widely fancied to progress to a final meeting with Cork, but Tipp hadn't reach the script and stunned the Banner with three first half goals in the space of 12 minutes. Barry Grogan, Brian Mulvihill and Philip Austin found the net between the eighth and 20th minutes to help the Premier County to a 3-1 to 0-4 interval lead. All of Clare's first half scores came from half forward David Ryan. The Premier County restarted with points from Timmy Dalton, Philip Austin, Brian Jones, Christy Aylward, Brian Mulvihill and Brian Fox to take complete control. Clare then had Eoin Troy and Greg Lyons sent off and their misery was compounded when Grogan and Dalton swooped for late goals.
