Monaghan time it nicely

March 17, 2007
A storming second half display was key as Monaghan booked a place in this year's Cadbury's Ulster Under 21 football championship semi-final with a 1-12 to 0-7 win over neighbours Cavan at Clones. The sides were deadlocked at 0-4 apiece at half-time but the introduction of subs Martin McElroy and Darren Bishop helped put Cavan on the backfoot. Monaghan were a much brighter team on the restart and a goal by Conor McManus plus five additional unanswered points served to put the issue beyond doubt even though Ray Cullivan added a brace of points for Cavan late on.
