Tierney points the way

March 11, 2007
A great point on the stroke of full-time by Michael Tierney helped Laois scrape home by 1-9 to 0-11 against Louth in their Cadbury's Leinster championship under 21 quarter-final clash at O'Moore Park, Portlaoise. The home side were made to work all the way for their win and it took a cool finish from Donie Brennan to ensure Laois went in half-time level at 1-3 to 0-6. Sean Dempsey's charges raced from the blocks on the restart with two quick points from Kieran Delaney and Brendan Quigley but Louth pegged them back and it looked like it was heading for extra-time until Tierney's last gasp effort.
