McCarron notches ten as Tyrone progress
March 11, 2007
In-form attacker Cathal McCarron notched ten points as Tyrone powered their way to a 0-19 to 0-9 win over Donegal in the Cadbury's Ulster under 21 championship quarter-final clash at Omagh.
McCarron was unerring from frees (eight) and his four early points helped his side eased their way to a 0-6 to 0-0 lead inside the opening 13 minutes.
Donegal gradually came more into the match and four converted frees by Gary McFadden gave them hope.
Ahead by 0-9 to 0-6 on the restart, Tyrone got a boost when Donegal were reduced to 14 men seven minutes into the second half when corner back Shane Boyle received a second yellow card.
Tyrone took control thereafter, hitting six points without reply in the closing ten minutes.
