Westmeath whip Cats

March 04, 2007
Westmeath's trip to Kilkenny for the Cadbury's Leinster under-21 football championship quarterfinal proved to be a one-sided affair as the Lake County trounced the Cats. Westmeath 5-18 Kilkenny 0-2 The visitors had the match sewn up by half time as they lead by 3-10 to 0-0 with David Glennon in fine scoring form as he finished the match with a personal tally of 1-8. Kilkenny had midfielder Pat Hartley sent off in the second half to compound their woes in a mis-match that neither side will have learned anything from. The Cats did manage two points late on when Peter Hanrahan and Padraig Whelan found the target, but it was a game that the home side will be keen to forget quickly.
