Big attendance expected at minor replay

September 22, 2006
A crowd of up to 15,000 is expected to attend Saturday's All-Ireland minor football final replay between Roscommon and Kerry at Cusack Park in Ennis. "We're expecting a crowd of between 10,000 and 15,000," said Clare PRO Des Crowe. "I was talking to Roscommon and mentioned that the match might be on television and the reaction was that it would make no difference to the expected 10,000 from Roscommon. "I was also talking to John Kennedy (Kerry manager) and he said there was great interest in the county and that clubs had been organising buses. He reckoned about 2,5000 would travel. I'd add a few thousand to that from Clare because of the Kennedy factor." The former Kerry player completed three years as Clare senior manager last year, and according to Crowe, "remains very popular in Clare". The Mid-West has been lashed by high winds and heavy rain in recent days, but Crowe fully expects the game to go ahead. "I've had a number of calls about the weather, but I'd have to say that we're not that concerned. "At the moment the weather is unbelievably bad but Saturday is promised very good and we foresee no problems."
