Kelly eyes three-in-a-row for MBNA Kick Fada 2006

Over 20 stars of Gaelic Football will compete for the prestigious All-Ireland title at the 7th annual MBNA Kick Fada competition, which will take place on Saturday, September 9th at Bray Emmets GAA Club, Bray, Co. Wicklow. Reigning champion, Offaly goalkeeper, Paraic Kelly will be going for a third title in a row and will be attempting to break the current All Ireland & World record of 72 metres, achieved by four time MBNA Kick Fada champion Mark Herbert from Kildare. Football's equivalent to the Poc Fada, the MBNA Kick Fada competition, tests the abilities of the countries best footballers to kick for distance and accuracy. The 2006 MBNA Kick Fada competition was launched today (16 August, 2006) at Croke Park by star of Dublin football, Ciaran Whelan and reigning champion, Paraic Kelly. The inter-county players and former greats will shoot it out in two divisions - Senior men and Senior ladies. Each champion will receive an MBNA Kick Fada All Ireland medal, with the overall winning kicker receiving the MBNA Kick Fada Champion Trophy. The 2006 MBNA Kick Fada All Ireland Final will be hosted by Bray Emmets GAA Club, Bray, Co. Wicklow in association with MBNA. Admission is free to the public. Bertrand Boisse, Customer Marketing Manager, MBNA Ireland said at the launch: "Over the past seven years some of the biggest names in Gaelic football have turned out for the MBNA Kick Fada to compete for the All Ireland title and this year will be no different. The competition is a unique test of skill and one that we at MBNA are delighted to be associated with.
