Late Carlow burst earns first final place
24 June 2006
Carlow will contest the Leinster MHC final for the first time in their history after a late scoring onslaught caught Offaly at the post in this dramatic encounter at Portlaoise.
Carlow 2-15
Offaly 0-16
It was a closely fought game throughout with only a point, 0-10 to 0-9 in Carlows favour, separating the sides at the break.
The Faithful County battled hard to earn themselves a slender one point advantage as the game entered injury time in the second half.
It was then that Carlow pounced for two killer goals with no. 14 Padraig Almond scoring the first before the same player picked up a pass from Paudie Keohe to bang in a second goal.
