Donegal progress to minor final

June 18, 2006
Donegal minors sealed their place in the Ulster final with a three-point win over Tyrone in Clones on Sunday 18th June. With five minutes remaining the tie hung firmly in the balance as Donegal drew level with their counterparts through a Micheal Murphy score. Donegal outstayed their rivals with three unanswered points in the homestretch to win 0-11 to 1-5. Tyrone started the brightest as they surged four points clear after ten minutes with a goal finished by Jason McAnnulla after some excellent work from Conor McMahon and a well taken point by Brian Toner. Donegal cut the lead down to two points as Tyrone led by 1-3 to 0-4 at half time. The two teams traded scores just after the interval. Paddy McNeice pointed after 48 minutes of play to send the Red Hand county three points clear. Amazingly this would be Tyrone's last score of the game as Donegal upped their performance in the final quarter. They took control of the game with super-sub Dualtach Molloy coming into his own. Donegal drew level with five minutes remaining after scores from Dara Gallagher, Michael Murphy and Brendan Flaherty. Molloy sent his side in front with a wonderful score from the sideline after 28 minutes of play. A minute later he swung over another as Donegal were in total control. Centre back Leo McLoone completed the scoring with a superb point from 40 meters to ensure Donegal's place in the final on July 9th.
