Munster land Gael Linn

A goal from Tipperary's Deirdre Hughes helped Munster defeat Connacht by seven points and retain their interprovincial title in camogie's Gael Linn final. Hughes bagged a goal after she was fed by her county colleague Eimear McDonnell. That score helped the Munster ladies to lead by 1-8 to 0-5 against Coonacht and gave them the leeway to pull away in the second period. In the semi-final, Munster proved too strong from Ulster on a 1-20 to 1-9 scoreline while Connacht had pipped Leinster. 3-11 to 3-10, in an exciting semi-final tie. Cork' Mary O'Connor was selected as the player of the tournament after her tally of 0-3 in the final sealed the decision of the judges. Final scorers: Munster - D Hughes 1-0, E O'Brien 0-5, M O'Connor 0-3, J O'Leary 0-3, E McDonnell 0-2, V Sheehan 0-1, J Ryan 0-1.
