Former Laois footballer Tom Kelly has put the boots back on again after a seven year absence through injury.

Kelly lined out for his club St Joseph's in the Laois junior football championship last week, helping his side to a 3-13 to 1-06 win over The Harps.

This was a full seven years after he was told that he would have to retire from a serious neck injury sustained in 2010.

In 2003, Kelly's performances not only helped the O'Moore County to a first Leinster SFC title since 1946, but he was also chosen as an All-Star that year.

Two years later, the defender was part of the Irish squad that took part in the International Rules Series where he was named Ireland's Player of the Series.
