Tyrone GAA mourning Errigal Ciaran stalwart, Seamus

July 25, 2017

Tyrone GAA has been left stunned and saddened by the sudden death of former Errigal Ciaran club chairman Seamus Horisk.

The extremely popular Ballygawley native passed away while on holiday in Donegal last Friday. Poignantly, his death took place on the birthday of his late son, Darragh, who died after being struck by a car on the main Ballygawley-Omagh Road in 1999.

Darragh (12) was a member of the Errigal Ciaran U14 team and his father has served the club with distinction all his life, including three stints as chairman. Seamus featured on 1974 All-County Division Two League winning team and was heavily involved in planning next year's 25th-anniversary celebrations of the 1993 team that won Tyrone and Ulster titles.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte said that his fellow clubman was "happy that Tyrone had won and hoping to look forward to more games over the summer" following the Red Hands' Ulster final win on July 16th, while Errigal Ciaran described the deceased as "irreplaceable, a massive GAA man in the parish".
