Vinny Murphy says Bernard Brogan will be remembered as one of Dublin's greatest-ever footballers.

Winner of four All-Irelands, four leagues, four All Stars and eleven Leinster medals already in his glittering intercounty career, the 2010 Footballer of the Year came off the bench in Sunday's Leinster final and slotted five trademark points as the Dubs defeated Kildare.

Murphy is adamant that the 33-year-old St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh clubman compares favourably to any man who's ever worn the sky blue jersey:

"When he eventually walks off into the sunset, we'll be able to put Brogan's career into context," the former Dublin attacker writes in The Irish Daily Star. "And it's clear that he's a true Dublin great.

"Two current Dublin forwards have surpassed any of the Dubs' attackers of the past - even Kevin Heffernan and Jimmy Keaveney. They are Diarmuid Connolly and Brogan.

"To me, Connolly is No.1 in terms of skill and talent. He can do things that few players ever have been able to do. But Brogan is Dublin's greatest scoring forward - and he'd edge Connolly in terms of consistency as well.

"Nobody could question Brogan at all when it comes to the crunch. When the pressure was on in massive, massive games, he delivered again and again."
