Sean Armstrong is set to come out of inter-county retirement and return to the Galway senior football squad.

The Irish Independent reports that the talented forwarded has accepted an invitation from manager Kevin Galway to rejoin the Tribesmen.

Two years ago, he became disillusioned with the inter-county scene and announced his retirement at the age of 29.

But his form with Salthill-Knocknacarra this year has, apparently, prompted a rethink.

In other good news for Galway football followers, Fiontán ó Curraoin is also expected to be available for their defence of the Connacht SFC silverware in 2017.
