Watch: GAA commentator's hilarious Snapchat story goes viral

Joe Troy is some man

Midlands 103 GAA commentator Joe Troy has become an internet sensation after he posted a series of Snapchat videos of a long walk home after a night out.

With no lift available, Troy decided to embark on the 22km walk from Shinrone to his Rath home in south Offaly last Friday night. He videoed himself as he walked in the dark and the results were hilarious.

After several miles, the exhausted Drumcullen clubman decides to call his mother and she duly comes to his rescue by giving him a lift in her car the rest of the way.

"I was doing a GAA preview night in Brian Whelahan's bar in Birr for the (Offaly) county final and went from there to Shinrone for the lads' 21st," he told one of his friends during the epic journey.

"I had no intention of going to the house party because I'm too long in the tooth for it and was to play golf yesterday morning. I thought I had a lift home with one of my friends, but they hadn't room. It was dark and I used the phone to entertain myself. Ended with my mother collecting me."

Joe must have got a good night's sleep on Saturday because he was in flying form when commentating on his first Offaly SHC final between St. Rynagh's and Birr on Sunday.
