Anthony Daly has reportedly set his sights on a return to the Clare hurling hotseat.

According to RTE, the Banner County's All-Ireland winning captain of 1995 and '97 has assembled a very strong proposed backroom team including former team-mate Brian Lohan and Tipperary's 2001 All-Ireland winning captain Tommy Dunne.

Daly previously managed his native county from 2004 until 2006 and enjoyed a successful spell as Dublin boss between 2008 and 2014. If he is to succeed another former Clare team-mate, Davy Fitzgerald, as manager, he will have to see off the challenge of Gerry O'Connor and Donal Moloney - the managerial team that steered Clare to three successive All-Ireland U21 titles between 2012 to 2014, who are also believed to be in the running.

The next Clare manager is expected to be named at the October meeting of Clare County Board.
