Dublin may go down the appeal route, says McGonigle

Dublin manager Gregory McGonigle hasn't ruled out the prospect of an appeal against the result of today's Ladies football final defeat to Cork.

The umpires decision not to award Carla Rowe a 'point' in the 22nd minute proved costly as the Jackies suffered a third final defeat on the trot and McGonigle was understandably angry when he emerged for his post-match interview.

"Obviously, ladies football have to answer the question - to Dublin and our players and their families who have sacrificed as much as the girls have - why do we not have Hawk-Eye?" he remarked to RTE Sport.

"This isn't to take anything away from Cork. They are great champions. From a management point of view, when you have the technology in place, why don't you use it?"

He added: "Fundamentally, I believe our ladies association have let us down."

On the subject of a possible appeal, McGonigle commented: "We'll see if anything can be done. That's something for the county board to look at. We manage the players and we'll leave that to the people on committees.

"If there is a right there then I do believe we should be offered a replay. There's possibly a loophole where there mightn't be a replay."
