Colm Collins felt Clare's first half performance set them up for a famous victory over Roscommon.

Despite playing against the wind in Salthill, the Banner took a 2-6 to 0-7 lead into the break and were never headed thereafter as they celebrated reaching the All-Ireland SFC quarter-finals for the first time.

"It was a great display from the boys. I'm very proud of them," the euphoric Clare manager told RTÉ's Mike McCartney.

"They're a fantastic group. I thought the game was won in the first half against the breeze. They were excellent then.

"We're delighted, absolutely delighted, but we've got to calm down now and get focused for next week."

He added: "We'd a very good goal chance at the start but thankfully the boys drove on and they got two goals after that - it was mighty altogether.

"We needed new energy and we got that from the lads who came on. Our six subs today are a tribute to the panel we have.

"I've tremendous belief in these lads. There are a lot of very good footballers on this team."
