Big effort being put in to Breffni underage hurling

Clare native John Hunt will take charge of the Cavan U-21 hurlers for 2016.

Hunt is a familiar face in Breffni hurling circles having previously managed the county's senior and minor teams.

The Anglo Celt reports that his backroom team will include assistant manager Michael Wall and selectors, Seamus Hughes, Eamonn Dalton, John Keating, Daithi Neary and Pat Halpin.

The U-21s will place in the All-Ireland C championship which is scheduled to begin on July 2 against Sligo in Kingspan Breffni Park.

John Kearney, meanwhile, has been appointed as manager of the U-17 and minor teams.

He will be assisted by Mark Hayes, Kathryn O'Flynn and Keith Greene, Hurling Development Administrator in Cavan.

The U-17s will be in Celtic Cup challenge action tonight (Wednesday) when they take on Sligo in Blacklion.
