Not for the first time under Brian Cody's watch, Kilkenny's never-say-die attitude saw them snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

When Setanta Sports raised the subject of his team's refusal to throw in the towel following tonight's one point win over Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn, the manager commented: "It's a basic in sport.

"If you don't have that absolute attitude you're never going to do anything. They had it, we had it and I think just about every team has it.

"Their attitude was questioned after last week and they answered all their questions tonight.

"We were put to the pin of our collars several times and we are very, very relieved and very, very happy to be coming away with the two points."
