Even though, this is the fourth year of Seamus Plunkett's reign as Laois manager, he admits that he is basically starting with a new team this weekend.

Laois begin their Allianz NHL Division 1B campaign with a home clash against Kerry on Sunday afternoon, but they will line out without a host of players who are either retired or injured.

Plunkett and his management team have had to work with mainly a new squad and he admitted to the Leinster Express that it will be a new look side put out.

"I suppose the reality is that we will be playing a new team against Kerry this weekend, we have lost a lot of experience, and whether those losses will tell against us, we'll only know this weekend," said Plunkett.

"The experience is important in games when you are under pressure and you need to stay steady, but lads want to show they can handle the pressure, and that they have the ability to hurl at this level.

"We have put a lot of work into re-shaping the team and we will have a new team on Sunday, but there are upsides to that, and the new players will bring a freshness and eagerness to the set-up."
