Kevin Moran and his Waterford team-mates aren't feeling the pressure as the clock ticks down to their start of the defence of their HL Division 1 crown.

The Deise blazed an impressive trail to league glory 12 months ago and, speaking at the competition launch in Croke Park today, the De La Salle clubman outlined their ambitions for the upcoming campaign.

"With the young team that we have, I wouldn't say there's a huge amount of pressure but, I suppose, the quality of the opposition is going to be greater from the word go.

"Progress is the big thing that we want from the Allianz League, win a few games is what we would be really looking for."

Derek McGrath and his players no longer have the element of surprise on their side and Moran added: "Coming in last year it was a different perspective.

"We were in Division 1B and we're obviously up against top quality opposition from the word go on Sunday.

"That's the way it's going to be for the first five games, it's different. We're just looking to be competitive starting off, we know the huge challenge ahead of us and more teams will be more aware of us and things like that.

"Look, it's great to be back, it's been a long winter and we're looking forward to doing some hurling."
