Michael Quinlivan knew the only way he was going to beat Nemo Rangers goalkeeper Micheal Martin was by keeping his shot low.

The full forward secured his place in the annals of Tipperary football when his last-gasp goal handed Clonmel Commercials a famous victory in yesterday's Munster club SFC final at Mallow.

Recalling the moment when Aldo Matassa's high delivery dropped in the Nemo goalmouth, Quinlivan told the Irish Daily Star: "It was just about getting it down and getting it on the ground because Micheal Martin is a super shot-stopper.

"I knew the only way to get it past him was put it low and thankfully it ends up in the corner. On another day, it would have skated wide, we'll take this one.

"The day didn't suit expansive football and I think Nemo played that way as well. They reverted to trying to keep the ball and run it through Paul Kerrigan and Barry O'Driscoll.

"We are a young, fit running team with Ian (Fahey), Jason (Lonergan) and Paudie White, who are all great off the shoulder, and I knew that game would suit us."
