Mick O'Connell says his only regret in football is not keeping his medals to show them to his grandchildren.

The legendary Kerry midfielder won four All-Ireland, 12 Munster and four National League medals during a glittering career, but didn't keep them.

In a contribution to a new GAA book called 'The Scrapbook of Regrets', produced by St Hugh's National School in Dowra, Co. Leitrim and listing the biggest regrets of over 150 GAA personalities, the Valentia man stated: "While I was often on the losing team, I was also on many winning teams but I never kept medals.

"I regret not having them now to show to my grandchildren, but I have some newspaper cuttings from the 1950s, 60s and 70s."
