Danny Owens celebrates with Tomas Geraghty after Kilcormac's Leinster Club SHC final win over Oulart at Nowlan park

Kilcormac/Killoughey are on the lookout for a new hurling boss after their most successful ever manager, Danny Owens, stepped down.

The 1981 and '85 All-Ireland winner's departure was announced by the club on Monday night. During his four-year reign, the double Ks won a three-in-a-row of Offaly SHC titles in 2012, '13 and '14, a Leinster club title in 2012, while he also led them to an All-Ireland club final appearance against St. Thomas' of Galway in '13.

Kilcormac/Killoughey also went on a 28-game unbeaten domestic championship run which was finally ended by current Sean Robbins Cup holders Coolderry in the group stages of this year's championship. A semi-final defeat to St. Rynagh's put paid to their quest for a four-in-a-row of Offaly SHC titles.

A club statement on Facebook read: "Kilcormac/Killoughey senior hurling management team of Danny Owens, Jimmy Dunne and Tommy Bracken have stepped down from their roles after four years in charge. During their successful reign, they led the club to a famous three-in-a-row of county titles from 2012 to 2014, and a Leinster title in 2012.

"The club would like to thank Danny, Jimmy and Tommy for their time, effort and commitment over the past four years and we wish them all the best for the future."
