Beaten Clonlara boss Sean Stack paid tribute to Niall Gilligan after the veteran forward fired Sixmilebridge to their second Clare SHC title in three years yesterday.

The 39-year-old former county star posted 0-13 (0-12 from placed balls) in a wonderful display of markmanship to win his fifth Canon Hamilton Cup since 1995.

"If you have fellas like that, you're blessed. Today we were searching around the field for leaders and they just weren't there," former Sixmilebridge star Stack lamented in the Irish Examiner.

"The best team won by a mile. They outfought us, they won all the 50-50 battles, they had all the homework done. The lads just didn't perform, no excuses.

"It was a perfect day - no wind, dry sod. The lads just have to take it and see where their furture lies because that wasn't good enough. Individually or collectively they weren't at the races."
