Kilkenny camogie manager the latest victim of player power

It looks like Kilkenny senior camogie manager Fintan Deegan may be the latest victim of player power.

Deegan agreed a three-year extension to his term at the helm on September 8th but tendered his resignation 24 days later, with family and work commitment cited by the Camogie Board as the reason for his dramatic u-turn.

However, this week's Kilkenny People reveals that there is more to the story, claiming that player power and dissension were major factors.

Running with a headline of "Kilkenny camogie in crisis", the newspaper points out that Deegan opted to call it a day once he learned that he didn't have the full backing of the panel.

It's been 21 years since KIlkenny last won the All-Ireland senior camogie championship.
