Cathal Joyce yesterday returned to the scene of his near-death experience three weeks ago to watch his Athlone team-mates beat neighbours Tubberclair in the Westmeath IFC final.
A defibrillator was used by medics to save Cathal's life after he collapsed on the Cusack Park pitch during the warm-up before Athlone's semi-final win over Rosemount.
Thankfully, he has since returned to full health and was happy to pose with the Peter Geraghty Cup and a defibrillator after yesterday's 0-11 to 0-9, which secured the Shannonsiders' return to the senior ranks after just one season.
