Sheedy tips Tribesmen

Former Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy

Liam Sheedy is predicting a Galway victory tomorrow.

The Tipperary man, who was the last manager to plot Kilkenny's downfall in an All-Ireland hurling final five years ago, expects Galway's dramatic semi-final win over the Premier County to stand them in good stead.

"Anthony Cunningham couldn't have asked for a bigger or better test for his side than the Tipp game. Galway had to deal with three hammer-blows of goals - and they didn't manage to score a goal themselves," Sheedy noted in the Connacht Tribune.

"They will certainly need to curb Richie Hogan and TJ Reid but if Galway do that - putting my head on the block - I think they are going there with a real chance. This team is in a better place than they were in 2012, but they will need to be at the top of their game.

"They will need to play at a higher level than they did in the semi-final. They can do that, but I wouldn't be giving them the nod just on that basis. It would be that if they match is tight, I don't know if Kilkenny have the trump cards they would have had in previous years to come off the bench."
