Mickey Harte is expected to continue as Tyrone football manager on a rolling one-year contract.

The Ballygawley man expressed his desire to stay on for a 14th term after guiding the Red Hands to this year's All-Ireland SFC semi-final, but a motion seeking to extend his tenure was withdrawn at a county board meeting in Garvaghey on Tuesday night.

Since becoming manager in 2002, Harte has always been given three-year terms, but this is the first time his contract has been allowed to expire. However, the Irish News understands that the three-time All-Ireland winning boss will be offered a new short-term deal in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the All-Ireland winning U21 management of Feargal Logan, Brian Dooher and Peter Canavan are expected to be reappointed for another term, but a new minor manager is being sought after Mickey Donnelly stepped down after five years in charge.
