Carr out in front

August 29, 2015

Former Westmeath minor football manager Tommy Carr.

Tommy Carr has emerged as the early front runner to succeed Peter Creedon as Tipperary's next senior football manager.

A high-powered committee was put together by Tipperary's football board this week with the task of finding a successor to Creedon and it would appear that Carr, a native of the Premier County and former All-Ireland winner with Dublin, is the early favourite to take over the reins.

The Lucan Sarsfields club man has had managerial stints in the past with Dublin, Roscommon and Cavan. His last inter-county post was with the Westmeath minors in 2011.

Wexford football boss David Power, the man who led to a historic All-Ireland minor triumph in 2011, is the other name being mentioned for the vacant role, along with former U21 manager Tommy Twomey.
